Congratulations to the THS Journalism staff.
The Illinois Journalism Education Association just released the results of their most recent yearbook competition, and among Division 3 schools, Taylorville High School's 2021 Drift took first place in Overall General Excellence, Copy Writing, Divider Pages, and Layout and Design, as well as second place in Sports Coverage, Best Use of Photography, Graphics, and Coverage of the Year. Current staff members who worked on the 2021 Drift include juniors Addison Vocks, Emma Murphy, and Alex Price, as well as sophomores Milana Henson and Sophie Ward.
STW:
STW applications for next year are now available! This is for all incoming Juniors and Seniors. Please see your counselor or Ms. Pennock in room 303. All applications are due by February 28.
Journalism Applications
Anyone interested in joining next year's journalism staff can pick an application from Mr. Steele in Room 144 before or after school. Completed applications must be returned to Mr. Steele no later than Friday, Feb. 25.
Tommy TV Application
Any student interested in joining the Tommy TV Production Class needs to complete an application and submit to Mr. Hohensteim. Applications are available in Student Services with your counselor or in the Main Office.
Prom
Any junior or senior who is interested in helping with this year's prom, please plan on attending a meeting on Thursday. There are two meetings, one before school at 8 a.m. and one after school at 3:15 p.m. Both will be held in Mrs. Tanner’s room, 221. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tanner or Miss Potter.
Student Council
Student Council is hosting a volleyball tournament on Feb. 23rd @ 6 p.m. in the west gym. Sign ups are in the main office and due this Friday, February 18th. . A $5 fee is due on the night of the event.

Student Services
Students: you must have your parent's signature on your pick sheet. You will turn them in on the day you input your requests into Skyward. That is Wednesday, February 23 for sophomores and juniors and Thursday, February 24 for freshmen.
THS will be having a Scholarship Awareness Day on Tuesday, February 22th in the cafeteria during lunch hours. There will be representatives from various local businesses and organizations that will have local scholarship applications on hand. Please stop by to talk to the representatives to see what opportunities are available and to pick up applications.
