Folds of Honor

Friday, September 30th, 2022 is our 2nd Annual Folds of Honor / Military Appreciation game vs. Charleston (7pm).  All students should have received an email for the military themed apparel that is for sale to support this great cause.  All students and their families are able to purchase Tornado/Military themed apparel, in advance for the game, until September 11th, 2022.  Our goal for this game is to raise $5,000.00, which is the amount that supports one educational scholarship to help benefit a military family through Folds of Honor.  Last year, THS raised approx. $7500.00 for Folds of Honor.  As a reminder, recipients of these scholarships are family members of those who have lost their life or have been severely disabled while serving in the United States Armed Forces.  If you have any questions about the event or store.  Please contact Coach Mateer.

FFA

All students taking an agriculture class will get a free FFA t-shirt this year courtesy of the Taylorville Alumni.  If you are not in an ag class right now, but are taking Floral Design, Vet Tech, or Horticulture 2 next semester you need to email Mrs. Parks or stop by her room (132) this week to sign up for your free shirt.

Student Services

Attention Student Athletes... Grit Group officially kicks off on Friday September 2nd, at 7:50 AM in the West Gym bleachers. Grit Group is a weekly support group for all student athletes, where we will come together to talk about the stresses of being a student-athlete in a supportive environment. Come share your story with us, and learn some new ways to manage stress in hopes of becoming a stronger and more successful student-athlete.

JUNIORS:

This year, we will be giving the PSAT/NMSQT test on Wednesday, October 12 during the morning at school.  This is an optional assessment, through College Board, that will give you more standardized testing practice to prepare you for the SAT (that is given in the spring), and if you score high enough, it would put you in the running for a National Merit Scholarship.  The test costs $18.00, and you would need to sign up for it and turn your money into Student Services by Friday, September 9.  Please email Ms. Glenn if you have any questions.
