ANNOUNCEMENTS
The
Olde Bowl in Taylorville will be having a special on Sunday for any students
interested in participating on the 2014 – 2015 THS Boys or Girls Bowling teams.
From 6 pm till 8 pm any student can come by and bowl. The first game will be
six dollars – every additional game bowled will only be one dollar. Shoe rental
will be free. The THS Bowling coaching staff will be on hand to meet any
interested newcomers and talk to them about the program.
The Girls Apollo Golf tourney
was canceled today once the girls got there. They will be returning
later this morning. It has been rescheduled to Monday.
The Fan Buses to Effingham
tonight are set to leave at 5:00. Please be on time.
JV Scholastic
Bowl Players
Stop
by Mr. Blades room 128 before or after school this week to sign up for
Scholastic Bowl. Our first match is next
week. We will have a short meeting
Monday, October 6th after school.
It should only take 5 minutes.

Students
please stop by the library and sign up for Read for a Lifetime or Abe Lincoln
Program.
Throw Down in
the VILLE
Taylorville
softball team will be holding a bags tournament "Throw Down in the VILLE!”
The tournament
will be Saturday, October 11th at the Taylorville High School tennis courts.
Registration and open boards will be from 10-11am with the tournament starting
at 11:15 A.M. You may pre-register your team with Mr. Novar before school or
after school or sign-ups will take place during lunch starting Wednesday. Please
register before October 9th. The Cost for a team is $10. There will be food,
music and chances to win cash and prizes. This tournament is for students in
7th-12th grade. If you have any questions see Mr. Novar.
Student Council Coat Give Away
The 6th annual
Coat Give Away will take place during parent/teacher conferences October 9
& 10. Conferences are from noon to 8:00 pm and 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Students
are needed to help man the donation site. If you would like to sign up
for a shift, please see Mrs. Sorrill in room 226.
COUNSELING
CLASS OF
2015: The
following information is regarding clarification of cost for cap, gown, tassel,
& medallion unit needed for participation in the graduation ceremony.
Cap/gown/tassel/medallion
prices were NOT listed on the order forms. If ordering just this unit
(cap/gown/tassel/medallion) complete sections #1 & 4 on order form and
write in the price. There are no taxes or shipping/handling on just
cap/gown/tassel/medallion unit.

area #1 & 4 on order form – cost $36.00 TOTAL (NO handling,
shipping or taxes)
If a senior is
using a previous graduates cap & gown then they must order a tassel &
medallion unit and complete area #1 on order form and let Mrs. Sawyer know this
that they are ordering just the tassel and medallion unit. There are no
taxes or shipping/handling on tassel/medallion unit.
Tassel &
medallion unit – if
using previous graduates cap & gown – cost $20.00 TOTAL (NO
handling, shipping or taxes)
Reminder –
cap/gown/tassel/medallion units will be handed out at graduation practice in
May. If a senior wants a tassel now then they need to order a memory,
mega, mini, ice or mile stone tassel.
Ordering
will be Wednesday, October 8 beginning at 8:15 a.m. in cafeteria,
alphabetically by last name (see teachers for list). All members of the Class of 2015
need to see Mrs. Sawyer in the cafeteria at their designated time. Bring
completed order forms and money.
The only thing
required for a senior to participate in the graduation ceremony is the
cap/gown/tassel/medallion unit & of course meet the THS graduation
requirements. Keep in mind seniors that if you order personalized
items you are responsible for the cost and there will be no refunds or
returning of the items. Spend your money wisely! If seniors have any
questions, please see Mrs. Sawyer.
We are sponsoring our annual
College Night to be held Wednesday, October 8th from 6:30 – 8:00
p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Representatives from 48 colleges,
universities, technical schools and the military will be in attendance to
distribute information and answer questions. There will also be two
financial aid seminars presented at 6:00 – 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 – 8:00 p.m.
This event is free and open to all students and parents from Taylorville and
surrounding schools. No reservations are necessary.
In support of College Night
on Wednesday, October 8th, all students and staff are encouraged to
wear a college, university, trade school, or military t-shirt or hoodie to school
that day.
