ANNOUNCEMENTS
Congratulations to sophomore Jessica Parsons and senior Hope Johnson for their performance at the IHSA Journalism State Finals, held Friday, April 29, at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston. Jessica placed fifth in the broadcast news category, while Hope finished first in yearbook layout and design. Hope also received the 2016 Inspiration Award from the Illinois Journalism Education Association.
Missions for Taylorville
THS students have an opportunity to assist others through Missions for Taylorville. The Spring date is June 11, 2016. Applications are located in the main office and are due back by May 20, 2016. The day will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital with breakfast and the assignment of jobs. Your assistance is appreciated if you can give one hour or the entire day.
Prom
The prom committee is in need of some sophomore helpers. If you are a sophomore who is not going to prom and would like to help out the night of prom, please see Ms. Potter in room 314 by Wednesday.
Prom Court
Prom Court will have practice before school tomorrow WEDNESDAY at7:45. Please meet in the west gym & be on time!
SADD
SADD is planning a Lock In after Prom on May 7th at the YMCA. Students MUST sign up in the main office by the end of the school day, TODAY, Tuesday May 3rd if they plan to attend. You do not have to be attending prom to attend the lock in and all grades are welcome.
Prom Pictures
Prom picture order forms are now available in the main office. The official school photographer will be available in the cafeteria Saturday evening; from 8-10 p.m. Picture order forms may be completed beforehand or immediately prior to the photo session. Questions should be directed to Mr. Steele in Room 144.
Prom
Guest Passes are available in the Main Office. Prom is for Junior and Senior students and their guest. If you are bringing a guest that is not a student at THS the following rules apply:
1. Guest cannot be a student at any junior high school.
2. THS student is responsible for securing a guest pass for and having their guest complete all the required information.
3. THS student is required to have guest pass for signed by Taylorville High School Administrator prior to the event and student must present form along with picture ID of guest to gain entrance to the dance.
4. In order to purchase tickets for prom, THS student (Jr. & Sr. Only) must provide an approved copy of guest pass.
DVD ORDERS
"The Sound of Music" DVD's can be ordered in the main office. You MUST prepay when ordering. DVD's will be $10 each.
Any student with a negative balance on their lunch account will only be served peanut butter and jelly as their lunch entrée.
Freshman
Freshman Class meeting will be held during advisory in the cafeteria. You must report to advisory for attendance and then to the cafeteria.
Frisbee Tournament
There will be a Frisbee Tournament on Wednesday, May 11th at 6:00 p.m. at the Jr. High School. Each team will have 6-8 players per team 2 of opposite gender. The cost is $40 per team. Sign-up sheets are in the Main Office.
Seniors
All seniors must return books to the library and clear up fines by May 13th.
Counselling Center
Attention Students: Applications for summer employment at Monsanto are available in Student Services. Deadline to apply is May 31. Students must be 14 years of age. Return completed forms to Ms. Wagoner in Student Services.
Summer School
Summer School Credit Recovery registration forms are now available in Student Services office. Summer school dates are June 1 - 24, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (noon). Students can only register for a maximum of 2 classes for the summer school session. Space is limited!
There will be NO summer school Driver's Education class offered this summer.
