Throw Down in the VILLE
Taylorville softball team will be holding a bags tournament "Throw Down in the VILLE!”
The tournament will be Saturday, October 11th at the Taylorville High School tennis courts. Registration and open boards will be from 10-11am with the tournament starting at 11:15 A.M. You may pre-register your team with Mr. Novar before school or after school or sign-ups will take place during lunch starting Wednesday. Please register before October 9th. The Cost for a team is $10. There will be food, music and chances to win cash and prizes. This tournament is for students in 7th-12th grade. If you have any questions see Mr. Novar.

Student Council Coat Give Away
The 6th annual Coat Give Away will take place during parent/teacher conferences October 9 & 10. Conferences are from noon to 8:00 pm and 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Students are needed to help man the donation site.  If you would like to sign up for a shift, please see Mrs. Sorrill in room 226.

Boys Bowling
The Olde Bowl in Taylorville will be having a special on Sunday the 21st for any students interested in participating on the 2014 – 2015 THS Boys or Girls Bowling teams. From 6 pm till 8 pm any student can come by and bowl. The first game will be six dollars – every additional game bowled will only be one dollar. Shoe rental will be free. The THS Bowling coaching staff will be on hand to meet any interested newcomers and talk to them about the program.

Girls Swimming
Any girls interested in swimming in the IHSA sectional for Taylorville High School needs to contact Mr. Held by Tuesday September 23, 2014.  Jill Weckbach will be the coach this year.

Please be with your parents and at the gate going onto the track at 6:30 tonight for introduction of the court at the game.  Please don’t be late.   The announcement is scheduled for 6:40 pm.

Homecoming Picture Order Forms
Homecoming picture order forms are now available in the main office. The school photographer will be available in the high school cafeteria Saturday night from 8 until approximately 10:30 p.m. Order forms may be completed ahead of time and presented to the photographer with the appropriate payment enclosed, or students may obtain order forms from the photographer Saturday night.

Boys Bowling
The Olde Bowl in Taylorville will be having a special on Sunday the 21st for any students interested in participating on the 2014 – 2015 THS Boys or Girls Bowling teams. From 6 pm till 8 pm any student can come by and bowl. The first game will be six dollars – every additional game bowled will only be one dollar. Shoe rental will be free. The THS Bowling coaching staff will be on hand to meet any interested newcomers and talk to them about the program.

Girls Swimming
Any girls interested in swimming in the IHSA sectional for Taylorville High School needs to contact Mr. Held by Tuesday September 23, 2014.  Jill Weckbach will be the coach this year.

Homecoming Picture Order Forms
Homecoming picture order forms are now available in the main office. The school photographer will be available in the high school cafeteria Saturday night from 8 until approximately 10:30 p.m. Order forms may be completed ahead of time and presented to the photographer with the appropriate payment enclosed, or students may obtain order forms from the photographer Saturday night.

Homecoming Dance tickets will be on sale today during the lunch hour  ONLY. Tickets will not be sold at the door! Tickets are $15 per person.  Everyone who comes to the dance MUST have a ticket. 

Spirit days for homecoming will be the following:

Friday—Jersey Day/Purple Reign Shirt day

Guest Passes
Guest Passes for Homecoming are available in the Main Office.  Homecoming is for Taylorville High School Students and their guest.  If you are bringing a guest that is not a student at THS the following rules apply:
1.       Guest cannot be a student at any junior high school.
2.      THS student is responsible for securing a guest pass form and having their guest complete all the required information.
3.      THS student is required to have guest pass form signed by Taylorville High School Administrator prior to the event and student must present form along with picture ID of guest to gain entrance to the dance.
COUNSELING
ASVAB Career Exploration Program test will be given on Tuesday, September 23 at 8:15 a.m. at THS in room 104 for juniors & seniorsSign up in Student Services by the end of the day today. Seats are limited to 30 students.  This is a military test but there is NO OBLIGATION to talk with the military.  The ASVAB is a timed test that gives you an idea of what skills you may test well on in specific areas such as organization, ordering items, space relations, math, English, etc.  If you are considering a military career you should strongly consider taking this test. 

ACT Prep class offered by LLCC to be held just before October 25th ACT test date.  Class will be held at THS September 23 – October 21, 6 -8 PM. and cost is $135.  Contact LLCC 786-2292 or on-line at www.llcc.edu/commed for registration.  For more information call LLCC at 786-4905 or see THS counselors.

Attention Students:  Interested in a career in law enforcement?  Consider being a member of the Law Enforcement Explorer Post.  A police officer will be here on Thursday, September 25 during the lunch hours in the Cafeteria to discuss the program with interested students.  An Open House is scheduled for Thursday, October 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the basement of City Hall.

The Tornado games are back and will take place this evening at the football field after the parade.  Students will have the opportunity to participate in Dizzy Bat, Relay races or everyone’s favorite tug-o-war.  Sign-up sheets will be in the main office and we ask that you sign up for only one event to allow for more students to participate in the Games.

practical “hands on” experience in the engineering field and the opportunity to spend time with practicing engineers and technicians.  The first meeting is September 23 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the
IDOT Central Office in Springfield.  For additional information, see Ms. Wagoner in Student Services or see your math or science teacher.
