Scholastic Bowl
Congratulations to Cara Rivecco, Carter Walton, and Luke Sloan for bringing home medals from Saturday's Apollo Scholastic Bowl tournament. Good job everyone.
Boys Bowling
The Taylorville High School Varsity Boys Bowling team ended their season on Saturday Jan 23rd with a 16th place finish in the Cahokia IHSA Sectional Tournament, which was held at Bel Air Lanes in Belleville.
For the Taylorville Tornadoes, sophomore bowler Brock Swisher place 27thoverall individually. Swisher rolled a 1303 series. THS Senior Holden Nagle placed 64th with a score of 1181 and Junior Connor Smegal finished in 67thplace with a six game total of 1173.
Boys Track
There will be a short meeting in Room 143 after school for any boy running track this spring.
Challenge
Dear THS Staff and Students:  
Would you like to lose some excess weight? Feel more energized? Improve your health? Then take the 1st ever "THS 30 Day No Sugar Challenge". The challenge is designed to get the "junk" out of your diet and help you learn more about how proper nutrition makes you both look, feel, and perform better. All participants must sign up and pick up an informational packet with Coach Mateer by 8am on January 25th. The challenge will run from February 1st to March 1st.  Take the plunge and take one more step towards building a new, healthier, happier, you. If you have any questions, please see Coach Mateer.
WYSE
WYSE team practice will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week during advisory.

Key Club
There will be a Key Club meeting in the East Gym on Wednesday, January 27th at 7:45 a.m.
If there are any Key Club members interested in helping with the Kiwanis Pancake and Sausage Breakfast this Saturday, please talk to Morgan Banger Mrs. Ames or Mrs. Dowson.
Journalism Applications
Any student wanting to participate in the journalism program next year must complete an application and return it to Mr. Steele in Room 144 no later than Friday, January 29. Applications can be picked up in Room 144 either before or after school.
Jazz Band
See Mr. Gunn for information on auditioning for Jazz Band.

Student Council
There will be a blood drive in the East Gym from 9:00 am – 4 pm on Friday, January 29th.  Students 16 years old must have a signed parental consent form and all students are required to have a photo ID.  Sign-up sheet and permission forms are available in the Main Office.

Juniors
Attention all juniors! Thursday, January 28, 2016, we will be going down to the West gym at the end of 1st hour to take a class picture.  Please wear a purple shirt, preferably Purple Reign or THS if you can.
