Voting will take place during lunch hours today only. LLCC students should vote on their way out if they wish to do so.

Homecoming Dance tickets will be on sale Monday, September 15, through Thursday, September 18, during lunch hours ONLY. LLCC students must vote on their way out of the building. Tickets are $15 per person.  Everyone who comes to the dance MUST have a ticket. 

Spirit days for homecoming will be the following:
Monday—Disney Day
Tuesday—Dress like a teacher day
Wednesday—Class color day
Thursday—Throw Back
Friday—Jersey Day/Purple Reign Shirt day

Float building will take place from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.  Class floats will be done in the big purple shed north of the football field.  Any group who wants to put a float in the parade should get a registration form from the main office. Forms should be returned to Mrs. Sorrill or Mr. Aymer by Tuesday.

The Tornado games are back and will take place next Wednesday evening at the football field after the parade.  Students will have the opportunity to participate in Dizzy Bat, Relay races or everyone’s favorite tug-o-war.  Sign-up sheets will be in the main office and we ask that you sign up for only one event to allow for more students to participate in the Games.

Guest Passes
Guest Passes for Homecoming are available in the Main Office.  Homecoming is for Taylorville High School Students and their guest.  If you are bringing a guest that is not a student at THS the following rules apply:
1.       Guest cannot be a student at any junior high school.
2.      THS student is responsible for securing a guest pass form and having their guest complete all the required information.
3.      THS student is required to have guest pass form signed by Taylorville High School Administrator prior to the event and student must present form along with picture ID of guest to gain entrance to the dance.
ASVAB Career Exploration Program test will be given on Tuesday, September 23 at 8:15 a.m. at THS in room 104 for juniors & seniorsSign up in Student Services by Thursday, September 18.  Seats are limited to 30 students.  This is a military test but there is NO OBLIGATION to talk with the military.  The ASVAB is a timed test that gives you an idea of what skills you may test well on in specific areas such as organization, ordering items, space relations, math, English, etc.  If you are considering a military career you should strongly consider taking this test. 

ACT Prep class offered by LLCC to be held just before October 25th ACT test date.  Class will be held at THS September 23 – October 21, 6 -8 PM. and cost is $135.  Contact LLCC 786-2292 or on-line at for registration.  For more information call LLCC at 786-4905 or see THS counselors.

Attention Students:  Interested in a career in engineering?  Consider joining the Engineering Explorer Post 6.  Sponsored by the Illinois Department of Transportation, this program gives students
practical “hands on” experience in the engineering field and the opportunity to spend time with practicing engineers and technicians.  The first meeting is September 23 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the
IDOT Central Office in Springfield.  For additional information, see Ms. Wagoner in Student Services or see your math or science teacher.

Attention Students:  A representative from the Air National Guard will be here to meet with students on Monday, September 15 in the Cafeteria during the lunch hours.  If interested in the Air National Guard, be sure to meet with the recruiter during this time.

Attention Students:  Interested in a career in law enforcement?  Consider being a member of the Law Enforcement Explorer Post.  A police officer will be here on Thursday, September 25 during the lunch hours in the Cafeteria to discuss the program with interested students.  An Open House is scheduled for Thursday, October 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the basement of City Hall.

Attention Purple Reign Members:

1.    T-shirt handout will be tomorrow at the soccer game.  There will be no meeting/practice due to it being a busy week with homecoming.

2.      If you have a Jeep and would like to participate in the Homecoming Parade, please get your Jeep signed up with Coach Mateer as soon as possible.

Homecoming tshirts will be handed out during lunch today.
